Please sign the petition below to have this light shrouded or removed. This light is way too bright and has annoyed neighbors for years. It is the same kind of parking light you find at the mall but is pointing directly outward towards the lake. The other one he has pointing towards his house is shrouded so he doesn’t have to see the light like his neighbors! Yah… that’s true.
We’ve asked the home owners (Dan Link and Heather Berger-Link) 3 times to shroud the light over multiple years and they refuse. We have talked to the city and the city has talked to Dan multiple times as well. The city has even come over to our house and viewed the light from our dock. At least one other lake shore owner on the north side of Harrisions Bay has talked to Dan or Heather and received only anger and vulgar language back. All we have asked is to have him shroud the light because it’s too bright and makes it difficult for neighbors to enjoy their time on the lake or in their homes.
This light is located on the south shore of Harrisons Bay at
4900 Edgewater Drive.
This light is against city code Chapter 42, Sec. 42-1
This light makes it very hard for the neighbors to enjoy their lake shore after sunset because the light is so bright. It is considered light pollution. Every time I have friends over and we’re on the dock after nightfall, the conversation turns to the light.
This light is on EVERY NIGHT after sunset until 3:00 or 4:00 AM.
The city has recommended that we turn to our friends and neighbors to start a petition to have this nuisance fixed. With that said, we will take this petition to the city of Mound and the LMCD. When we present the petition, we will request (at a minimum) to have the light shrouded so it does not light up the neighbors property or into the lake but we will encourage the city to have it removed. It’s gone on too long!
If you agree that a neighbor shouldn’t be able to have a light so bright that it lights up the neighborhood (I live 4 houses away) and cast light all the way across the bay into the homes on the north side of the bay (we’ve received reports of people being able to read books inside their house because the light is so bright) then help us by simply signing the petition below.
